As someone always after that coveted lit-from-within glow, I gravitate to Korres for its natural products and commitment to moisture. The brand’s products focus on nourishing the skin for a healthy, balanced, and radiant look by using natural active ingredients native to Greece. Why Greece? The Mediterranean country has one of the most biodiverse landscapes in Europe, growing skin-friendly ingredients like black pine, wild rose, pomegranate, and Olympus tea. Korres works directly with local producers to ethically source these ingredients at peak times of the year. It’s no wonder that the brand’s lineup has remained popular among skincare enthusiasts since the late ‘90s with its initial launch of the Wild Rose Night-Brightening Sleeping Facial. Today, the Santorini Grape Velvet Skin Drink is the new cult favorite. Touted to add hydration and blur imperfections, I was eager to test this popular serum to see if it would work for me.

Pros

  • Doesn’t clog pores
  • Ideal for all skin types
  • Nourishes skin
  • Next-day radiance
  • Clean formula
  • Lightweight

Cons

  • Can pill when layered upon
  • Leaves a somewhat greasy feel on the skin after application

About the Santorini Grape Velvet Skin Drink

This multi-tasking serum smoothes textured skin, aids in hydration, and blurs imperfections thanks to resveratrol, an antioxidant found in grapes that protects the skin from aging, sun damage, and inflammation. It's also infused with olive oil, grapeseed oil, and grape extract to improve the complexion's overall tone and complexion.

Unlike some companies that turn to synthetic ingredients to provide shelf-stable products, Korres keeps its curated line all-natural. Therefore, the brand never over-produces, which causes the Velvet Skin Drink to be sold out quite often (pro tip: grab one for yourself before it flies off the shelves).

This serum can be used twice a day. Apply one to three drops over the face and neck, avoiding the eye area, as the last step to your morning and evening skincare routine.

About My Skin

I have combination skin that leans drier and is easily congested. The wrong moisturizer or oil can quickly turn into clogged pores and breakouts. Due to my skin type, I frequently incorporate gentle chemical exfoliation into my routine, so I am always on the hunt for something that will bring balance back to my skin and nourish it.

My Review

For a product named after Santorini, it definitely lives up to the name. The oil is luxe yet not too heavy. I used it as the last step in my nighttime routine alongside my other skincare products. Upon my first use, I applied the oil directly to my skin. Unfortunately, it did pill a little (a personal pet peeve), but that issue was resolved after letting it sink in for about a minute. By mixing a few drops with my moisturizer (Tatcha's Dewy Cream), I found that the pilling was a non-issue.

A little goes a long way with this product, and the dry down left my face feeling greasy. However, when I woke up the next day, I noticed that my face felt as good as it looked. This oil is like a tall glass of water for my skin because the extensive dryness and irritation I experienced the night before were reversed by morning.

It can be problematic to find products that improve texture while not drying out my skin too much—or a hydrating product that won't clog my pores. This has proven to be a happy medium. While the oil can be applied morning and night, once a day provides just the right amount of moisture to balance my skin, so it feels bouncy and plump during the day.

Final Verdict: A Skincare Staple

Overall, the Korres Santorini Grape Velvet Skin Drink is a winner. It's a simple step to incorporate into any skincare routine and flexible enough to fit the most fickle skin types. Like everything else Korres makes, this product does not disappoint.
